Importance of Temple

Kotilingala Temple as the word says the temple is constructed with Koti ( one crore or 10 million) Linga’s ( form of Lord Shiva). This temple was constructed in 1987, by shri. Padisala Veera Bhadraiah.

 
There are lot of temples all over India, which has one crore linga’s, but they are organized one after the other. so it is almost impossible for any person to perform Abhisheka for all the one crore linga’s. The reason for constructing the temple is to provide the opportunity to every one, to pray god (Do Abhishekam) One Crore times at once.

If a person, perform abishekam to god daily once. It will take 27397 years (one crore days) to perform abishekam a crore times. which is not achievable in a humans life time. Shri Padisala Veera Bhariah's devotion towards this goal and after long term plan, He designed the temple ( yes he was also the man to make plan for the temple) in an Panchakshari model to achieve this.

In this Panchakshari model, all the One crore Linga’s(called Narmada Banalu), which are brought from the holy Naramada river[ Narmada Key Kankar, Sab Shankar] were placed in an tall pillar and on top of it, the temple was constructed in an Panchakshari model ( STAR MODEL) and above it is the main Shiva Linga.When devotees abisheka the Main god with water. As it is placed on top of all Linga’s, this water flows through all the one crore linga’s below it. Performing Abishekam for one crore linga's( Koti Lingalu).
